The Axeman of New Orleans Comic

As a native of Louisiana, the surrounding culture behind the state’s Cajun origins are a source of interest. To utilize the folklore behind Louisiana in a digital medium, this miniature comic is created detailing a particular piece of New Orleans’ histories: the Axeman of New Orleans, a serial killer from the 1910s.
The typeface used was made in Adobe Illustrator, made to emulate a scratched texture as if it had been etched into the page.
The comic is started using pencil on Bristol board, followed by pen and ink, and later refined and colored in Adobe Photoshop. Originally worked on at 11 x 17 inches, the comic is then resized to 6.87 x 10.25 inches, the overall average dimensions of a comic book.
